eARC BOOK REVIEW#- Ten Below Zero by Whitney Barbetti

Title:  Ten Below Zero
Author:  Whitney Barbetti
Publication Date: August 28th 2014

Plot:   “In here,” he said, pushing on the skin above my heart, “you're ten below zero. And you’re closer to death than I am.”

My name is Parker. My body is marked with scars from an attack I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I choose to live my life by observation, not through experience. While people are laughing and kissing and connecting, I’m in the corner. Watching them live. I’m indifferent to everything, everyone. The only emotion I feel with any kind of depth is annoyance, and I feel it often.

A text message sent to the wrong number proves to be my undoing.

His name is Everett, but I call him rude. He’s pushy, he’s arrogant, he crowds my personal space, and worst of all: he makes me feel.

He chooses to wear all black, all the time, as if he’s waiting to attend a funeral. Probably because he is.

Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.

He hurts me, he fulfills me, he completes me. And still, he's dying.

 My Review

☆ I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆

So, I was right. At the end of this read I was thinking, "What the f#*k did I just read?".

Ten Below Zero is one of those reads that I'll admit was a bit difficult to stay in tune with at first, but once it picked up the ante and hooked you, you're in it for the long haul.

I should have literally psyched myself up before walking into the upending storm. It totally kicked my a$#, that's for sure.

I mean, how do you rate a story with characters so different, unique, and drastically flawed as the ones portrayed by Whitney Barbetti?

description

I'm sorry. This doesn't sound like a typical review that I normally write where I like to divulge the plot and make comments about everything.

To me, Ten Below Zero is one of those reads where you simply just pick up and the book will do the talking.

It was just different. And yes, I've used that word twice in my review. I can't really think of a different (hah, correction, 3x!) word to describe it really. It honestly left me lost for words.

Good luck readers!! You're about to be pulled Ten Below Zero.
