Excerpts:

Aiden's POV

We both sit quietly for what seems like forever, just watching the girls dance and laugh. “I still can’t believe she’s going to be my wife,” Liam says out of the blue. I laugh. “Yeah, I never thought I would see the day that Liam MacCoy settled down,” I chide him. “Just wait, dude, when you find it, you’ll understand.” I don’t say anything to that, because well…I have a feeling I may have found the one that could get me to change my way of thinking, but I won’t let myself have her. My eyes find Hailey as they always do, and I take in her movements, her laughter. I love to hear her laugh. The next song is a slow one, “Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon. Liam jumps up and makes his way to Allison, pulling her into his arms. I watch them, wishing it was Hales and me. “Don’t leave me hanging, Emerson,” I hear her say. I look up to find her standing there with her hand held out, waiting for me. I reach out and take her hand, tugging her close. She wraps her hands around my neck and begins running her fingers through my hair. I place my arms around her waist and pull her as tight as I can get her. I glance over her shoulder and see that Liam and Allison are in there own little world. Good, that means there is less of a chance of them witnessing this. I told myself that I would keep my distance, but I can’t. I will never be able to turn her away, tell her no. Hailey brings her arms down and places them around my waist, hugging me close as she rests her head against my chest. I lean down and kiss the top of her head, and try like hell to memorize every minute, every single fucking second, of what it feels like to have her in my arms. This song, fuck me, it’s perfect for us, for me. I sing softly in her ear, hoping she understands what I’m trying to say. The song ends and Hailey slowly lifts her head from my chest. “Thanks for the dance,” she whispers as she leans up and kisses my cheek. I release her from my hold and she stumbles a bit. I would love to think that it’s my effect on her, but I’m pretty sure it’s the alcohol. I reach out and catch her with my arms, helping her regain her balance. “Looks like she’s had enough too,” Liam says as he steps up beside us. “Yeah, I think you’re right.” My voice is thick with emotion. I pray that he doesn’t notice. “I’m taking Allie to bed. Can you make sure Hales gets settled in?” “Sure, man. I’ll see you guys in the morning,” I tell him. Liam scoops Allison up in his arms and carries her into the house. Hailey falls against my chest, losing her balance once again. I wrap my arms around her. I can’t seem to control myself where she’s concerned. “I can’t feel my legs,” she mumbles against my chest. I kiss the top of her head. “I got you, angel,” I say, bending down and scooping her up in my arms. I carry her in the house and set her on the couch. I run back to the door, closing and locking it. I find Hailey where I left her, eyes closed breathing softly. She looks peaceful. I gently pick her up and carry her upstairs. Once I reach her room, I place her down on the bed, careful not to wake her. Her eyes pop open as I am pulling my arms out from underneath of her. My face is so close to hers, all I would have to do is lean in just a little and I could taste those sweet lips. Hailey loops her arms around my neck. “Don’t go,” she whispers.

Allison's POV

Allison decides she wants to take a nap, so she and Liam go to their room. I am too comfortable to move. I am curled up on the couch. It’s a rainy day, so there is not much else to do. Once I’m awake, it’s hard for me to go back to sleep no matter how tired I am. I’m weird like that. Aiden comes into the living room and I automatically lift my legs, inviting him to sit with me on the couch. I keep reminding myself that we are friends and we have done this exact thing a thousand times. He takes a seat on the opposite end of the couch and I rest my legs on his lap. “We watching a movie?” he asks me. “Yeah, but you can pick,” I tell him, tossing him the remote. Aiden grins and starts flipping through the channels. My head is turned towards the television, but my eyes are trained on Aiden. He is gorgeous. His brown hair is messy. I can tell he just ran his fingers through it after his shower this morning. I love his thick locks. My fingers itch to touch him. To run my fingers through his hair. Aiden settles on the Lifetime Movie Network. I smile. He knows me so well. “For me?” I ask and bat my eyelashes. Aiden just smiles and winks. He picks up my left foot and begins to massage it. This is new; he’s never done this before. Friends can give friends a foot massage, right? I lie there with his hands on my feet, working their magic. I’m trying to concentrate on the movie, but I can’t. I close my eyes to try to calm my racing heart. I focus on taking in deep even breaths. I feel my body relax and I start to drift off to sleep. I slowly wake up and open my eyes. I see that the television is muted and the house is quiet. I lift my head and I see that Aiden is still at his end of the couch. He’s awake and he’s watching me. “Hey. Sorry I fell asleep on you,” I say my voice raspy. I could really use something to drink. As if he can read my mind, Aiden leans over, plucks a bottle of water from the coffee table, and hands it to me. “Thanks,” I say, taking it from him and chugging half of it. Much better. “How was the movie?” I ask, my voice now back to normal. Aiden shrugs his shoulders. “I’m not sure, I didn’t finish it,” he says. “I glance at the television and see that it is, indeed, still on.” I look back at Aiden and raise my eyebrows in question. “You looked so peaceful, I didn’t want it to wake you up.” He shrugs. “I know you didn’t get a lot of sleep last night and needed to rest.” “So…uh…what did you do?” I ask. I’m not sure how to take his last statement. Do friends just do that? Do they go out of their way to make sure the other gets rested after a drunken night? He’s in the same spot as when I fell asleep. Did he…did he watch me? Aiden’s face flushes slightly. “I watched you,” he says softly. He watched me! I open my mouth to respond, and no words will come out. I’m stunned speechless. I open and close my mouth again, still nothing. I know I look like a damn fish right now, which is totally embarrassing, but… Holy Shit! Aiden watched me sleep for, what, like an hour? “You could have moved. I probably wouldn’t have woken up,” I tell him. “Yeah, that really wasn’t an option for me. Why would I want to move, when I can be close to my angel when she’s sleeping?” he asks.

MY REVIEW:

description

While I did like this story and think that it was a sweet romance... There were also A LOT of times were I got so bored and frustrated with the hot and cold vibes as well as excuses and repetitions throughout the story.

I literally wanted to yell for them to "get it on already!" since it was SO OBVIOUS how attracted they were to one another. *sighs*

SO BASICALLY...there was a lot of:

*Ignoring and dancing around their feelings
*A lot of talk about how much they like each other but don't want to ruin what they have just in case their relationship went bad.
*A hell of A LOT of sexual frustration.
*And once again, lots of dilly-dallying and moments where there were progress made between the two only to digress the next second.

IF YOU CAN HANDLE THAT then by all means go for this book!! I'm not at all saying that it's a bad read (because it's not) but I honestly think that readers will need a lot of patience to get through this since I didn't.

So over all, a decent and cutesy read but kind of dragged and made me want to at times strangle Aiden and Hailey at the same time.

But then again, on a positive note, I'm also glad to have FINALLY seen their relationship play out so in that sense I'm placated.
-*I know, I'm kind of a walking, talking contradiction in itself. I get that A LOT.*

I'm now hoping for maybe a Macie and Jaden story or a Miles and (??) story!! Who are these characters you want to know? Well, you just got to read and find out! ;)
