BOOK REVIEW...Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Title:  Lick (Stage Dive #1)
Author:  Kylie Scott
Publication Date: Macmillan Australia (July 1, 2013)
Goodreads URL: HERE
Plot:   Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

MY REVIEW:

Lick (Stage Dive, #1)

I think I like this cover more than the original! ;)

"Lick" is now by far one of my FAVORITE rock star romances EVER!! It was even better than Olivia Cunning's "Sinner's On Tour" and "One Night With Sole Regret" series and that's saying something!!

I was already a fan of Kylie Scott's from her "Flesh" series but this one has to be the cherry on top out of all of her books.

As a self-proclaimed rockstar romance junkie, I liked the "freshness" this plot and characters brought to this genre. I mean, what book starts off with the girl waking up from a hangover, married to a rock god that she doesn't even remember, and her puking all over him?! Hahaha. Priceless.

"Lick" was like a breath of fresh air as the story line was more "mature" and practical than most rock star romances you come across.

Evelyn, was such a delight to read as she was completely likeable and reasonable. She didn't annoy me like most female protagonists who like to b*tch and whine and was totally easy to relate with. If I were her, I, too, would also contemplate taking a chance on a relationship with a famous rock star. After all, it's not like it's going to be a convenient relationship with him being gone majority of the time and the groupies throwing themselves at him. Evelyn was so well put together and I'm glad she decided to stick it out with David. This proved that not only was she brave but she was willing to take risks which is something heroines in stories don't tend to take until the end of the story or when forced to.

David was also a wonderful character that completely won me over. It's so rare to come across a rock star theme read that has the rock star completely head over heels and committed to making a relationship with a girl after meeting and marrying her in Vegas one night. While he could have his pick of girls, he's courting his "wife" into falling in love with him all over again. How romantic is that?

I also liked how *SPOILER* the author doesn't have Evelyn regain her memory but rather lets her and David have a fresh, SOBER, restart in their relationship and lets them fall in love with each other all over again. It makes the plot more special and meaningful since even though we learn bits and pieces on what happened that fateful Vegas night, we can also build our own memories with these characters as well as we follow them on their journey of love.

......
So my verdict:

Over all, a delightful read where I appreciated EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Well, actually I take that back. I didn't like David's ex and that bikini top groupie girl at all and wasn't a big fan of his brother at first.

On the bright side, Mal, David's group member, was hilarious. He was like a breath of fresh air and always kept everything light and fun. I kept cracking up when he would refer to Evelyn as "child bride"!! Buahahahaa. How endearing?! I hope the next book is on him!!

Seriously, pick up this book!! It's worth the $4!! Not kidding!

DAVID...*sighs dreamily*

My Rating:
