ARC BOOK REVIEW...Left Drowning by Jessica Park

What does it take to rise from life’s depths, swim against the current, and breathe?

Weighted down by the loss of her parents, Blythe McGuire struggles to keep her head above water as she trudges through her last year at Matthews College. Then a chance meeting sends Blythe crashing into something she doesn’t expect—an undeniable attraction to a dark-haired senior named Chris Shepherd, whose past may be even more complicated than her own. As their relationship deepens, Chris pulls Blythe out of the stupor she’s been in since the night a fire took half her family. She begins to heal, and even, haltingly, to love this guy who helps her find new paths to pleasure and self-discovery. But as Blythe moves into calmer waters, she realizes Chris is the one still strangled by his family’s traumatic history. As dark currents threaten to pull him under, Blythe may be the only person who can keep him from drowning.

"Left Drowning" has got to be one of the best books that I've read all year yet!!  I read this in one sitting and I rarely do that. :O

While I will admit that some of the reccuring themes that you read in New adult books does surface in this one, "Left Drowning" separates itself from the rest in it' genre by the amount of heart it exudes.

I swear, couple times I had to put my ereader down because I totally felt for Blythe.  She's a girl who's been dealt with a sh*tty hand and has to salvage from it.

I loved her relationship with Chris and how she as well as he (since he has his own personal demons) grow as characters.  They really make a beautiful couple as well as pair of individuals.

Sabin, was by far "the bomb"!  He, to me, provided some comic relief in the story when tensions were high and you needed a breather! Hehe. :D

Over all though, GREAT GREAT read filled with angst, heartbreak, and most of all 'heart.' <3

My Rating:

-Overall : 9
-Plot : 8.5
-Writing : 8.5
-Characters : 8.5
-Cover : 8
