If you're one who finds following intense storytelling a tad difficult.. this book is a perfect snail's pace for you. Although I wouldn't recommend this book for hardcore readers, it's definitely a good place to start and gently ease you into the wonderful world of books.
The main character, Merise, is thrown into the world of modelling after being scouted and convinced that it would be a great way to pay off her uni expenses and get exposure to her dream job of journalism.
Her first modelling gig lands her at Yarraside Football Club where she is to be the "face" of the campaign. There she meets football captain Cal McCoy and the magnetism is instant. But here's the catch: he refuses to pursue any type of romantic entanglement with Merise since football is his life and a title on the line.
I spent more than half the book wanting to bash both of the characters' heads together for being so stubbornly stupid. Especially Cal!! He was so hot and cold with Merise that I wanted to kick that football straight at his head for being such a wanker to Merise!! And Merise, I didn't blame her for doing and thinking the things that she did throughout the story. I would have done the same things too.
There was also no "real" chemistry between the characters and I felt that it was often forced in the writing. *Sigh*, what a disappointment since I normally do love sports romances but this one left me hanging in frustration. Cal to me was as judgmental and conniving as he thought Merise to be and yet it was always Merise always suffering in the end of heartache. What a prideful hypocrite!! Gah!!
Sorry guys, but I don't plan on EVER revisiting this story again. END OF.
